Success story

How can we protect a UV filter from the sun?

First permanent, in-situ co-encapsulation of a UV filter within a mesoporous silica.

The IS2M, member of the Institut Carnot MICA, in partnership with a cosmetics company, has developed a simple (one-step) and effective UV filter co-encapsulation method using amphiphilic molecules within a mesoporous silica. Tests demonstrated excellent stability of the material since no release was detected. Tested in cosmetic formulations, these new materials have obtained very promising results, and the method has been subject to an international patent.

This new technique increases the sun protection factor and reduces contact with the skin, providing better skin tolerance to the products.
